I feel like I’m beating a dead horse with this topic, but I can’t help and notice that my readers are constantly worrying. I run 7 private groups on Facebook. I watch over them very closely and read posts and monitor everything. Often when I post something about worrying, it speaks to many people.
I have this note from my Inductive Bible Study and I wanted to share with you what Pam Gillaspie shared out of her book:
I Thought He was the One with the Problem!
There was time in my life not too many years ago when my husband and I were at a stand-off. My husband thought I had a problem with worry. I knew that he simply didn’t care enough.. about anything!
According to my life rubric at that time, if you didn’t worry, you didn’t care. I’ll remember for the time he suggested that I “just stop” worrying about something.
Clearly the man was detached from reality. After all, I couldn’t just stop worrying. Nobody could do that – at least not someone like me, Pam!
He was asking me to stop being me. Worrying was hard-wired into my DNA. For my husband to suggest I just stop not only was crazy-talk, it was personal attack as fas as I was concerned. It wasn’t until God opened my eyes one day as I reading Matthew 6 that I realized I was the one with the problem, and it was a sin problem.
Maybe you relate to this personally or maybe you know someone who lives with worry. Either way, I’m sure you’ve seen the damage worry brings to the lives of those it touches. –Pam Gillaspie (Precept Ministries)
How liberating it would be if we didn’t constantly worry. If our mind were free from all the clutter and junk. Worrying consumes us and our mind has no room for the things of God. – Pam G.
Three ways that will set you free from worrying:
1. I replaced my worrying habit with the Word of God. Anytime, I felt worried I immediately picked up my bible, looked up worry and found all the verses on worry.
2. Memorize scripture and say them aloud. I would memorize scriptures on worry and say them aloud over and over again, until I felt at peace. I wrote them on my index cards and carried them with me. I put them on my mirrors and walls around the home. 😀 Yes, I did that. I looked crazy, but it worked! It was everywhere!
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to obey everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful in all you do. Joshua 1:8
3. Replace worry with prayer. Sounds practical? Yes. But people aren’t doing it. Some would just sit, worry, let their mind wander and not pray. Are you taking all your burdens to Him? Bring it to Him and leave it in His hands. In Matthew 6, where Jesus spoke on worry, He also mentioned praying in a secret place. Do you have a secret place where you could meet Him? We need to pray, read the Word, meditate and give. All of these are mentioned in Matthew 6, they work and go together!
We need to be intentional about this. Constantly renewing our mind with the Word, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can be set free!
God wants us to free our mind, get rid of the junk so He can fill it with His peace, love and Joy. He wants to speak to us and tell us how much He loves us. He wants us to know that He’s got it all under control and we just need to trust Him. Worry is a burden that God never meant for us to bear. (quote by: unknown)
Love you all!!
