Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him and he will help you. -Psalm 37
I have friends who are battling through cancer, a friend who is about to homeless, a friend divorced after 15 years of marriage with three children, I can’t help but feel so overwhelmed. Yet, in the midst of our overwhelming trials we forget that we serve a great God.
In my quiet time last week, I was taken to Psalm 37. I meditated on this chapter, took notes and underlined all key words. He reminded me that we are to trust in him and continue to do good. We can’t allow weariness to stop us from doing good. We must not forget to delight in him even when we don’t feel like doing it. And as we draw more and more near him, we will find shelter in the shadow of his wings, and he will sustain us through these times.
Prayer: Lord, you delight in every detail of our lives. Though I stumble, I will never fall for you will uphold me. During these times I choose to trust in you and will continue to do good. I will delight in you and commit everything to you knowing that you will never abandon me. Help me Lord to be still in your presence so that I may wait patiently for you. Thank you, Lord for helping me. Amen.
