Don’t rely on Christian experiences to feed you spiritually. Don’t get me wrong, they are there to edify us, but it should never be the main thing we are searching for. The main thing is GOD, Himself.
Let me explain, in life, there are going to be many seasons when you’ll feel spiritually dry. A couple of examples: When you’re not hearing from God, He is a little more silent than usual or you’re simply waiting on Him, for a very long time.
Relying on experiences such as always wanting for God to give us these tingling feelings just like when we first became Christians, or answered prayers that seems to keep coming and we’re just so overwhelmed with joy. Remember those feelings? And yet, we constantly yearn to have that again, don’t we?
Don’t depend on them or we’ll fall apart spiritually when we approach the dry season. God uses dry seasons to test us. That’s when we come out spiritually stronger and many times it will be years before we come out of it!
We must always remember that faith is not based on emotions. Faith is believing whether we feel it or not, want to or not. Feelings come and go. Things come and go. God and His promises are eternal. Keep those emotions in check.
1. Be in the Word.
2. In prayer for every situation, good and bad.
3. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
4. Don’t get too worked up over everything. Praise Him on the mountain top and praise Him in the valley, and you’ll make it through every circumstance. It won’t be easy, but there’s grace and strength provided for you.
