The other day a friend had asked me about an old best friend I used to hang out with for 9 years. He’d asked if I felt like everything was a waste? If I was offended that I didn’t get invited to an event. To be honest, my answer was no to both questions.
Nothing is a waste. We have friends that are only here for a season. Some will stay and some will go. God is pruning and making adjustments and this is the time where I learn, grow and mature. As I look back, I can see why God had to prune my friend’s list or any relationships. It was His way of saving me from heartaches, grief, drama or any other unnecessary pain.
You see, God plans for us is far more in advance than we could ever see. At the moment, we’ll experience some grief because a close friend or boyfriend/girlfriend left us, instead we need to look at the bigger picture…
1. What is God trying to reveal to me?
2. What did I learn from that relationship? How can I grow from my experience?
3. What season is this now? What is His will for me during this time?
4. Yes, friends come and go, but the ones God keeps around will help us grow spiritually.
5. I acknowledge that this is a NEW season. Don’t deny it. Accept it and let God do what He wants to do in us.
Now, if I had the same friends, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I would’ve settled. God doesn’t want you to settle or you’ll miss out on your destiny. What a terrible tragedy that’d be because there’s so much more to life! He came that we may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10
I’m here to tell you that in this new chapter there will be some growing pains. Yes, you will feel brokenhearted and lonely or maybe even abandoned. The great news is along the way.. on this journey call life you’ll always make new relationships. Allow God do the pruning and what’s necessary so you may go where He wants you to go.. that you’ll be in His will. Grow from your experience. Don’t feel remorseful and don’t feel condemned. Romans 8:1 It’s a new season, it’s a new chapter. Embrace it.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Rom. 8:28

I encourage and empower Christians through the love and grace of Christ.

Hi Janice,
I am really agree of what U said. We learn from different chapters of life, never a waste. Actually we earn more than expected. I have the same feeling like you. This is the most I like from you; “I acknowledge that this is a NEW season. Don’t deny it. Accept it and let God do what He wants to do in us.”
Your words encourage me to go to another season. I am ready for it. How about you?
cheers,
Carol
Carol, I am very ready for His will to be done. It’s so hard to adjust in the beginning!
Thanks, I needed that! This year I lost my fiancé and a good friend, I knew over 10 years… And it was really hard. This was the message I needed! Thank you.
I see this happening alot in my life . Thank you for sharing , it can be very painful and especially when you choose to follow God’s ways most important factor in your life and He allows something to come in your life rather you are at fault or not and it prune away things in your life and you had no control over it . It can be a health issue or etc. But what the enemy intended for our harm God has a plav to turn it around for our good . God Bless
At some point, i can somehow relate to this… The pruning is really painful but it made me better..
God totally changed me.. Praise God!
Allow God do the pruning and what’s necessary so you may go where He wants you to go.. that you’ll be in His will.
honestly i am very confuse and now im just beginning to seek God after been back slided for awhile. how do we know which path God wants us to take? How do we know we have taken the right path? How do we know its the path God wants us to take? Desperate need of a direction.
Thanks for the post..
Hi, the more time we spend in His presence the clearer we’ll where He wants us to go. Do you do quiet time or prayer time? This would be a wonderful time to ask God, where, how, who, etc.
Thank you so much. I have been abandoned by so many friends over the past year or two, as well as by my husband. Just last night I was remembering the relationships, thinking about them, wallowing in a state of loneliness. God really wanted me to read this today!
Zeph, you are never alone. We may FEEL lonely but never alone. Stay in God’s presence and surround yourself with other Christians. God will guide you in where you need to go.
Thanks Janice. I think I am in between knowing people cannot meet my needs and knowing only God can. Can be a lonely place that only He can fill. I love my friends and have so many wonderful and a few very close but there are only a part of my life. Jesus is my life.
I love what you said Deborah. So true.
God has allowed some people to be able to meet some of your needs but not all because God wants to the one.
Hi Janice, Thanks for this post. The part about feeling alone is so on point. but, He will bring it all together for my good. You are now part of what I refer to as Kingdom connections.Thank you for all your posts and especially Women after God’s Heart articles. Amazing. I make a point going through them everyday.Very encouraging. You are doing an amazing job. You are blessed.
Thank you Purity. So encouraging to hear this. You don’t know how much that means to me especially while working on my site on this Saturday (when I could be out and doing other stuff).
“Allow God do the pruning and what’s necessary so you may go where He wants you to go.. that you’ll be in His will.” Amen! This blog post totally describes my heart today. So thankful that Romans 8:28 is true! Thanks for writing this. God Bless You.
