“Behold, I’m Doing A New Thing”

Got the family dressed, hurried to the car, daughter forgot her bible, and husband had trouble handling the new car with the stick shift! As soon I got to church I plop down into my seat and said, “Phew! Finally here!”  So glad to be at church.

As we were singing praise and worship during an intense moment with tears welling up in my eyes, I had a thought, “My prayers are still not answered!! What am I doing wrong? Why is God taking so long to answer my prayers? Are my motives wrong? Ugh! Time is ticking!!!”

It hit me, “timing.” It’s not time yet. “But why Lord?” “I’m doing a new thing.” Yup! Those were the words. This will come as an encouragement to those who’s been waiting for an answer from God and it seem like our prayers are falling on deaf ears. — Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? Isaiah 43:19

There’s so much that God need to do in us. Whether it be to love more,  patience with others,  our temper (mine), pride, our self righteous attitude, or maybe we’re not right where we should be spiritually. He needs for us to be where He wants us to be before He’ll answer. I know that’s not what we all want to hear but it’s the truth. He is doing a new thing, in us. Let’s be sure to allow God to bring the work into full completion as we wait for answers.  –There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears. Phil. 1:6 MSG

Have you done a spiritual check lately?  Make sure to do it often so your prayers are not hindered.

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalm 139

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9

 
The answer may not come the way we want, but that’s okay!
