Marriage

Where do we often go wrong in Christian marriages? It’s not the doubting, the arguments, it’s the comparing.  We compare our family to another Christian family. The marriage you have is God ordained. Don’t envy. Don’t desire what others have. AND don’t feel inferior.

Proverbs 14:30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh but envy the rotteness of the bones.

Proverbs 27:4 Wrath is cruel and anger is outrageous but who is able to stand before envy. —- Powerful!

The grass is not always greener on the other side. They had their own journey to go through in order for them to get that green! If we want our own to be green, we need to water the grass and nurture it.

Everyone is different and so is every marriage. Each has it own testimony and we need to be aware of that. I wouldn’t want my testimony to be the same as yours! I want mine to be unique, powerful,  and  glorifying unto GOD!  Accepting God’s plans for your marriage will bring fullness of joy. We look to Him for guidance and the Holy Spirit that’s working in and through the both of us! Don’t scrutinize your marriage but rather rejoice in what He’s doing and about to do. We all crave for a perfect marriage, yes how selfish of us, we won’t be getting that instead we’ll get a godly marriage. :) What God ordains, He sustains. Do you believe that? I pray so!

Lord I pray that you will protect my marriage from the snares of the enemy . Shield it from our own selfishness, neglect, ungodly desires, satan’s lies and deceit that has caused us to believe about our marriage. I rebuke any jealousy that may arise! Remove our past hurts, heartaches, brokenness and fortify our marriage that it may be vibrant so it’ll glorify you, O Lord! Amen!

Recently I have two different friends who have been part of my life for a long time, one of them husband passed away on Valentines Day at the age of 50 of brain cancer although their relationship was far from perfect their love for each other was of God. The other friend’s husband performed a terrible act which involved a child and although she still loves him she is seeking Gods’ wisdom in order to go on with her life, he is now in jail and facing many more years. Although both these situations are totally different from each other both wish for the same things for life to return to the way it was before tragedy struck. Both have faith in God and know that come what may they will be okay. All Glory be to God! Because of their inspirational stories I have begun to look at my own marriage with much more appreciation that God has shown us how quickly things can change. Love one another as God loves you and never take any relationship for granted regardless of it’s issues. May God Bless Us All. Amen

This is just a bit off…
YES, we compare… or sometimes we “justify”.
a man tells himself…. “My boss had an affair and got away with it, how bad is his life? My wife does not… (fill in the blank)”
… and so in that ‘comparison’ we find a web to justify where we wanted to go…
What did Arnold Schwarzenegger tell himself to justify his affairs?

So now, Maria has a choice to STAY? or to say, “Enough”!
    Neither is a kind path!
    I had that choice….
and uncovered more cans of worms than I had a clue that could exist. 10 years ago, everyone i knew had a happy home! SINCE THEN… there is the woman who was nearly killed in a car wreck when her drunk husband rolled the car and his alcoholism and affairs were uncovered. SHE STAYED. She’s uneducated and feels she can’t support herself. My other neighbor can’t help care for my child because her husband is too busy with his addiction. I’m trying to keep my young sons pure from their abusive cousin who wants to sexually exploit them and dad is busy fantasizing about the young secretary in his office who was married but they were having their affair online. Too often it can be as simple as an obsession with sports or simply neglecting our spouses and children but we appear to have a huge population who do not know how to be people of character! SO VERY SAD!
