Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God-soon I’ll be praising again.
He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.
What am I doing in the meantime, Lord? Hoping, that’s what I’m doing-hoping
Now God, don’t hold out on me, don’t hold back your passion. Your love and truth are all that keeps me together.
I waited and waited and waited for God. At last He looked; finally He listened.
He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip.
Know this: God is God, and God, God. He made us; we didn’t make Him. We’re His people, His well-tended sheep.
For God is sheer beauty, all-generous in love, loyal always and ever.
We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain.
Hope that is sure and steadfast! He is our God and He definitely puts a smile on my face. My hope shall remain in Him when all seems dim. He will surely lift me up and place me on a solid foundation.
