Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

1TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven:

2A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted,

3A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up,

4A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

6A time to get and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away,

7A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,

8A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

This scripture was given to my husband when his dad passed away in October. It was sent directly to his inbox and his phone went “ding” at the hospital. I’ve had a wall plaque hanging in the home for many years and sometimes we forget that it’s there… but lo and behold it was THIS verse. My husband had seen it while brushing his teeth and came downstairs to share with me. It was definitely something special I’ll never forget.  Amazing right?

Now this is his life verse. This was how God brought peace to our family amidst sadness. If only we can see what an awesome God we serve!  Sure we prayed for peace before getting to the hospital but we didn’t think God would work so fast! The week was tiring. We had so much to do with funeral plans, cooking, cleaning, setting up, paper work, the list goes on and on. I remember not getting enough sleep and getting sick!

Nonetheless, There is ONE thing I can assure you,. there was PEACE. We cried for 2 days  but after we’re all able to move on, have peace, and knew God was in control. Our family is still sad but we don’t dwell in the past, we don’t allow it to define our present and future. We’ve all let it go and now living a life that God’s planned for us. Moving on to new things knowing dad is in heaven rejoicing with God.

Are you still dwelling in the past? Maybe there are some things that you need to hand over to God and just move on in order to bring Peace and joy back into your life?
